A Tribute to The Man of All Seasons
A Visitor Came To My House Today
He was dressed all in red and had lost his way
I showed him the path to the house next door
Where the little kids waited to see what Santa had in store
A few months later he appeared again
But this time he was dressed as a big fat Hen
Or maybe a Rooster . . . it was so hard to say
Once again I sent him along his way
Again he appeared red beard and all
He was dressed in green and boy he was tall
He said "Top of the morning" and I laughed once again
His accent was pitiful but you understand
This time I heard a rustling at my door.
It was him again cleaning the messy porch floor
"Neatness Man" is here! He said with a smile
His suit was all red and it glowed for a mile
His task was to clean up the city . . . with Captain Tidy by his side.
"No one was to litter!" he boasted with pride
A few months later . . . he came knocking at my door
What in the world would he now have in store?
His Uncle Sam Hat was big as could be
He had sparklers and fireworks and spectacles to see
I thought he was thru but he appeared once again
This time wearing lederhosen . . . when will it all end?
He was doing a Chicken Dance and I made him quit
The lady next door was having a fit
I'm sure there were more times that I just can't remember
The man for all seasons from January to December
You've made us all happy, and shown us a way
In spite of your faults . . . we continue to pray
We know you are hurting but you don't hurt alone
We lift up our prayers and they are etched in stone
So sleep well my friend as well as you can
And always know, that you are "The Man!"

Oh man Dick, What's going on now?
Heard you're sick, And tired of being down
Your fight has become the talk of the town.
We all love you bubba So don't you frown
Eat right, exercise and when you wear a hospital gown
Please be careful when you turn around.
Oh man Dick, What's going on now?
