Meet the Man behind the Mic

Dick Antoine's legacy has seen him step forward in unlimited city functions to become the reining Spa City Ambassador for all Seasons. A resident since 1988, Dick has tirelessly given of his time and efforts for the betterment of Hot Springs. He hosts a daily talk show on local radio US Stations 1340 KZNG, where he provides a "cutting edge" update on area happenings and interviews a long list of community leaders and organizations to help inform area residents of their existence and services.

Antoine is seen at nearly all ribbon cuttings with the Chamber Red Coats while extending his sunny personality to all who are present. Dick's portrayal of characters throughout the year has become a holiday legend. Whether it is his portrayal of Santa Claus, the Beautification Commissions Neatness Man, the World's tallest Leprechaun or Oktoberfest Ambassador in his Chicken Suit, Antoine is not afraid to set the "fun" standard in anything he lends his name to.

He has been a regular television announcer for over 20 years for such events as the Hot Springs Annual Christmas Parade, Veterans Day Parade and organizer of the annual Fourth of July celebration Spa Blast. He co-hosted the 2005 Hurricaide relief concert and has been an announcer for the Spa Healthfest and an official judge for the Running of the Tubs events.

The other side of his personality portrays a serious and caring individual that lends his talents to numerous charities, co-chairs the Relay for Life event, and works with many other organizations including the Auxiliary Coast Guard, Joplin Fire Dept and the First Responder Team. He also co-founded the Farmers Market. Dick's personality along with his "can do" attitude places him on top of the list of people who work tirelessly for our city.

If that isn't enough, Antoine was a co-chair of the 2009 fundraising efforts to build the new Veterans Memorial. He is responsible for helping raise over 130,000 this past year. This is but a taste of Dick's community involvement. It is estimated that over the course of the last 20 years, he has been directly responsible for raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hot Springs various organizations and spent hundreds of hours in community service to projects not even mentioned here. His skills and enthusiasm continue to benefit Hot Springs, his adopted town. It is his philosophy that if everyone would donate a few hours a year back to their community, it would make a huge difference in our town's quality of life. He not only "talks the talk, but walks the walk.
